Black Box Explains... Bar-code reading.
Bar-code reading.
Bar codes are graphic symbols that represent encoded alphanumeric information such as SKU numbers, routing data, account numbers, etc.
Theyre used to simplify inventory, pricing, and tracking functions in a multitude of industries. Bar coding enables people to enter information into computers using optical scanners rather than keying it in by hand.
One-dimensional bar codes, like the Universal Product Code (UPC) symbols on grocery store items, may contain up to 20 characters.
Two-dimensional bar codes, developed in recent years, are often much smaller than UPC codes and can contain up to several thousand encoded characters. Contact the Black Box experts to learn how bar coding can help you.
